I went through a really bad break up and need a good "girl power" book, as retarded as that sounds. He cheated and I know I am better off without him, I just need a reminder every now and again. Please no self help books.

Well, it's not really a girl power book, but this one is amazing enough to make you laugh like crazy...

"running with scissors'' by Augusten Burroughs. The movie has no credit against how great the book is.

Depends what you're into.
ChickLit I recommend Melissa Nathan, especially Pride Prejudice and Jasmin Fields, although personally when I've just broken up with someone I can't stand reading romances, they depress the hell out of me!
What about Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden - absolutely beautiful book, and while there is a romantic element it's basically about women living and working together and how they either bicker or work together!
Failing that, when I'm down about something I go back to teh books of my childhood, I've been reading the Chalet School books recently by Elinor M Brent-Dyer, but something like the Immortals Quartet or the Song of the Lioness Quartet by Tamora Pierce might be good... both of the heroines in those are very much girl power... in The Song of the Lioness books Alanna disguises herself as a boy to become a knight and in the Immortals books Daine has to learn to use her magic when there's no one who can train her completley because her magic is so rare!

Try Lilith's Brood by Octavia E. Butler or anything by here. She has a great perspective on woman’s roles and oppression presented in a sci-fi/fantasy genre.

Here's an article:

Here's some awards:

Dang, i replaced into going to point Twilight! nicely, if no longer that, then how approximately...New Moon =) (the sequel) i do no longer comprehend what style of books you're searching for... the eco-friendly Rider sequence, with the aid of Kristen Britain, are exceedingly sturdy (although there're purely 2 out, the third is taking a protracted time!). it fairly is style of delusion/journey. considered one of my favourites from whilst i replaced right into a new child: Ella Enchanted, with the aid of Gail Carson Levine. confident, i could nevertheless study it repeatedly lower back if i might desire to get my palms on it. a lot greater advantageous than the movie--to me, the movie replaced into an utter sadness. I enjoyed A tale of two cities (Charles Dickens) and the guy in the Iron mask (Alexandre Dumas) finally, in case you like historic fiction, you are able to attempt Philippa Gregory. I study her e book The consistent Princess, approximately Queen Katherine of Aragon, yet whilst she replaced right into a woman first coming to England to be wed and all that... How's that? =)

If you want an escape from reality, "Meesha, Guardian of Grand Mountain", is a great fantasy novel. When threatened by an ancient and overpowering evil, Meesha and her young friends must face more than just the sweeping changes of adolescence. They must grapple with their ability, rather their destiny, to change into dragon form to defend the safety and security of their home, Grand Mountain, their way of life, and indeed their very existence. Lots of female heroes. You can find it on Amazon.com or at http://www.redearthpub.com

Marian Keyes, Watermelon - it's about a woman who's husband dumped her on the day she gave birth and then tried to blame her and he expected her to beg him to take her back. It's brilliant, very girl power!
