When Williams was with BMW, they were strong and were matching strong teams like McLaren, Ferrari, and Renault. But, after they got separated, they both went down. So, Jenson and Lewis could not help either teams.

Wow, where to start with this one?! "Williams Have dominated motor racing like none other?" I suppose that is true, since most that dominate in motor racing actually dominate... though technically not dominating can't really be called "dominating like none other."

Williams can't be said to dominate motor racing as they participate in but one series. Porsche, Ferrari, or Ford could all easily claim more success across the spectrum of motorsports. Williams cannot even claim the most success in Formula 1, with many others having more success.

Williams was one of the top teams for a good stretch of time, and over that time they were a threat to win every race... but by the same token, I would not look at 2005-2006 and state that Renault have dominated motor racing like no other company! And the fact that you go with the "puny Ferrari" shows you're really just trying to create some kind of flame war.

But, to indulge the question - given two top drivers, the current Williams team would probably do worse since they would be spending all of their money on drivers. Their current budget would not support the drivers and any car development.

But if they could keep their current (not so good) level of development, and pair it with a top driver, they would likely manage a few podiums over the course of the year and, and with a little luck in having faster cars have failures, could even manage a race win (though pretty unlikely there).

A top driver can elevate a team above it's normal position, but to consider a championship or regular contention for race wins, Williams would need to be in a much better position than they are now, or are likely to be in for the foreseeable future.

Formula One is about 90% car, 10% driver. Hamilton and Button wouldn't magically turn Williams into a winning team, just a very English one. Even Eddie Irvine pulled off a second place in the Driver's Championship in 1999. That was more likely the result of a dominant Ferrari team than it was Eddie Irvine being the second best driver on the grid.

and make a real british team (which no longer exists)and paint them green... it would be great... with a Cosworth (not a Toyota)... but the Old Frank would need to expend some of all the money he has... and he doesn´t seem to want to do it, he looks like more interested in selling the team to a big company.

Be sure to celebrate each time Williams backs into a champ point this year since that is the only way they are scoring
