Determine sex of baby --- that's what old maids and mothers of early England did. And not surprisingly - given the technological limitations of the time - they did this without the help of scientific equipment. According to folklore, you don't need science to determine sex of baby. Why? Because a baby's gender can be predicted simply by looking at the pregnant woman's belly. If the baby rides high in a woman's womb, it will turn out to be a girl. If it stays low, it would surely turn out to be a boy. Girl, high; boy, low - is there a basis for predicting things to be just so? Legend has it that boys are typically more independent than girls. Thus, they stay low in the abdomen. In contrast, girls crave protection and should thus be carried higher. Thankfully, there are now more scientific methods to determine a baby's gender. While not a hundred percent accurate, procedures like amniocentesis and the ultrasound are nevertheless considered reliable means for predicting an unborn child's sex. It is interesting to note that in more recent years, the focus is less on identification of gender and more on gender planning. Parents no longer find it enough to find out if they're having a boy or a girl. They want to make sure they get a girl --- or a boy, as the case may be. Is such a thing possible? Many believe it is. The book "How To Pick Your Baby's Gender", by Rebecca Washburn, for example, takes a look at every gender selection formula available and then details the elements of each system that have been proven to be the most accurate. If you want to do more than predict your baby's gender, this book might prove to be a good read.

There's a chinese sex predictor (I tried it online when I was preggers) that goes by age of pregnant mother, due date, etc. but it said I was going to have a girl and to my happy surprise I was pregnant with a boy. There is also a old wives tale that states that if you take a ring and tie it to the end of a string, drop it over the belly of the woman it will go around in a circle if it is a girl, or back and forth if it is a boy-- this one was actually right in my case (still, it is a 50/50 chance). Good luck. I'm sure you will be happy with either sex as long as the baby is healthy!

well there is the wedding ring test. The mother removes her wedding ring and ties a long piece of cotton on it, then lying down with the ring being dangled over her tum, she asks a question that she knows the reply to, such as "is today Thursday" if the ring swings side ways, then that must mean yes, so she asks another question (that she knows to be untrue) such as "Is Sunday the day after Wednesday" and hopefully the ring should spin round and round.
Hopefully she has now establised which way the ring swings for "yes" and which way for "no" - then she asks "am I having a boy" and depending on the answer, that is the what she is having!

Here is a fun one. It is supposed to predict the gender of the child for each and every pregnancy!
You need a common pencil, needle and thread.
Take the threaded needle and spear the eraser on the pencil.
Then dangle the pencil over her wrist. The pencil will swing across the wrist for a boy and circle over the wrist for a girl.
The pencil will go from pattern to pattern until it predicts each pregnancy and then it will stop. Its really weird to see.
It doesn't seem to matter who holds the thread. It will repeat the same pattern any time you try it no matter who is holding the thread. (unless of course they are obviously attempt to change it by moving the thread from the top)
It will go thruugh the same motions of a guys wrist and follow identical patterns but for guys and predicting fatherhood it does not appear to be nearly as accurate...
Have fun!

Fast heart beat 160 or hire mean a girl lower means a boy. If the woman peaks during conception then it will be a girl. If the mom craves sweets during pregnancy is is a girl. If she craves weird things like pickles and ice cream then it will be a boy. There are a lot of old wives tales about predicting the sex but I have to warn you they are nothing but old wives tales.

When I was pregnant with my first everyone kept telling me I was having a boy because my bump was nice and neat and just at the front. I had a girl. With my second my bump was more spread out - not just sticking out at the front, and apparently that signifies that you are going to have a girl. I had a boy. If you really want to know the baby's sex, I should ask during one of the later scans, because the old wives tales are just that I'm afraid!

Well, out of 50 people who have tried this, 50 predictions were correct. I tried it, and I haven't had the baby yet so I'm not sure.... anyway, what you do is get the Crystalized Drano, its a little harder to find, but they still make it. Anyway, you get equal parts of Drano and urine. Put it in a bowl together. Make sure you do this outside and don't be in the down wind, because I think it makes mustard gas..... not a big cloud but enough to make you scrunch your nose to the smell.... anyway, the very first color that you see will determine the sex of the baby.
If the color is a green or blue, turquoise, blue-green, any of those shades, it means girl.
If the color is brown or black, then it means boy.
But it has to be the first immediate color. Eventually it will turn to brown or black anyway, but it does mean boy if its brown or black immediatly.
Me and another girl are doing it. Mine turned green, hers turned brown. Neither of us know the sex, so in a few weeks we'll know the results!

If the baby is being carried high in the womb it is supposed to be a boy. another one is if you dangle a wedding ring on a piece of cotton over the mother-to-be's tummy, whichever way it turns is to denote a sex. Unfortunately I have forgotten which way was which

Put a ring on a necklace. Dangle over the belly and if it circles it is a girl, and if it swings a boy.
