Is a crypto-zoologist a good career choice?

That really depends on you a good career is something that you've wanted to do your whole life
For me its zoology so I would be happy working with animals even if I didn't get payed that much I would be happy volunteering at the zoo.
The truth is that you need to decide whether you will actually be happy studying this career
Don't let anyone tell you what to do with your life if you really like this particular subject then by all means go for it don't let anyone's opinion change your beliefs.
Only you can decide what to do in the end
If all else fails then you could always just try it for some time then follow another career path

This is not a good career choice if you would like to be able to feed yourself. Most people who award themselves this title (there is no degree for it) pursue their work using their own money or donations from similarly inclined people. Cryptozoologists do not have a good track record of producing convincing evidence of the creatures they look for. I am not aware of any successes in this field by cryptozoologists. There have been some previously undocumented species found, but these discoveries are made by mainstream biologists and zoologists.

Generally people define "good career choice" as something that fits their personal style (such as having a strong sense of justice -> police officer, wanting to help people -> nurse, psychologist), and something that earns a reasonable wage or salary.

You will most likely not earn a good salary as a cryptozoologist. There are a few people who make livings on the fringe of science, such as Streib and Wilson, but for the most part, you will not get papers published, you will not get university appointments, and most people will think you are a nutjob.
