As a whole, LV is definitely much cheaper than Honolulu. Of course, you could always find a more expensive place in LV than Honolulu such as the $10mil penthouse at Trump but all in all there are not many places more expensive than Hawaii.
I just found one site that said the median home price on Oahu is $614,500 while LV is $285,000. Quite a big difference!!!

It would be much less expensive to live in Las Vegas especially if you didn't live in the city but in one of the suburbs like Henderson. Everything in Honolulu is pretty expensive - gas and food especially. The weather is lovely year round in Hawaii but can be hotter than the hinges of you know where during the summer in Vegas.

Vegas: cheaper food, no state income tax, very low property tax, gasoline prices among the lowest in the nation, housing (the guy above covered that one) -- even apartments are reasonable. Energy bills will be higher than Honolulu, though because you need to run that central air conditioning 24/7.

i've got lived right here considering the fact that 1979. it is not that low-fee. The housing marketplace has taken a brilliant unload so housing (this is the costliest portion of residing) is extremely low-fee. regrettably, the unemployment cost is likely considered one of the optimum in the rustic. vehicle coverage and means is costly right here and foodstuff seems to be going up besides. we are additionally ranked fiftieth in the rustic for graduating scholars from extreme college. Casinos pay many of the taxes and sources taxes are fairly low (i think of they might desire to be better to assist training). It was a lot greater fee-effective to stay right here yet i'm unsure it fairly is low-fee everywhere from now on. Las Vegas isn't that super of a city. there is not any longer something outdoors of it. Henderson is a suburb yet outdoors of those 2 cities there is little inhabitants for a pair of hours.

I believe they meant "than" not "then". And, I'm afraid having never been to Honolulu I don't know the answer.
But, I'm sure the winter weather is nicer in both places THAN here in Canada (although it does get a little chilly in Las Vegas in the winter).
