Your son is definitely old enough to join a summer league swim team, So get him to join! Then on those meet days he has friends to entertain him and the only thing you have to do is worry about yourself. My parents normally sign up to help out with concession stands and all that stuff. Also i hope that your watching and cheering for your daughter... becuase that would keep him occupied for the few seconds or mins(depending on the events) that she is in the water. I also recommend to NOT bring any electronics... you are at risk of water damage, and its not fun having a damaged ipod, nintendo ds, portable dvd, or electronic game system. Having toys around is a good thing and also having someone else to play with would be perfect.

Get a group of parents who have younger siblings and find an older sibling who is willing to watch them all out in the other areas of the facility. Usually there is a playground or something of the sorts. Typically coloring books and other toys keep kids occupied. You can also teach him to cheer for the team- get him face paint, a team shirt and a megaphone. He'll have fun and be part of the team. Make sure he is also in swim lessons and working toward joining the team. He'll really feel a part of it and be less likely to get bored.

I'm on swim team and as a result I go to many meets. My mom and my sister, who's seven, really don't enjoy attending. My advice is to get a Nintendo DS, or other gaming systems. Kids love them. Or get your son involved in swimming also!! But if your son is around seven or even six, my advice is an electronic gaming system because they really entertain. Or get a portable DVD player, they are unusually cheap if you look in the right places. Have fun at the meets, I hope your daughter does well.
