It's your call. The money isn't yours, so as long as you don't spend any of it you'll be OK. Like you say, you'll be able to earn interest on it. You could just wait until they realize their mistake - they could rectify it by not paying you after your first month back - so be prepared for this!

Depends where you are located and what your company offers. Some companies actually DO pay their employees all or a portion of their wages during a sabbatical such as you describe, so you may be entitled to the pay.
Otherwise, keep the money short-term and bank the nterest. When you return, ask your HR person why you were paid for this time since it was your understanding that you would not be. Be prepared to return the $$ (if it wasn't their policy to pay you, they will come asking for it at some point anyway.) You'll be the hero for being honest and you might earn some interest income in the meantime.
Enjoy your time off.....

report it immediately. If they did an auto deposit- they can auto remove it, leaving you with bounced checks. They may charge you interest. It also shows they can trust you as an employee to do what is right.
Do what is right so that you can sleep at night. Who knows, they may just tell you that they will continue to pay while you are out- won't that be a nice surprise. Hope this is not a test for your further employment. I know an employer who shorted his people on purpose to see if they would notice, he was testing them. Not a good practice.

I would tell them. You never know. They may notice the mistake eventually and you will be in trouble for not saying anything. Like the first person said, they may let you keep it.
