I'm moving to New Orleans in august and need to know which hurricane or hurricanes are expected and will I have to relocate for a few weeks? I've never experienced a hurricane except in Virginia and all we had were storms and our backyard was flooded. Is that how it will be in Louisiana?

As I'm sure you realize, hurricanes are not scheduled in advance. Anyone living in an area that is prone to hurricane strikes, including New Orleans, should keep emergency supplies in their home and should know their evacuation plan. New Orleans was devastated two years ago by Hurricane Katrina, which was much worse than some storms and a flooded back yard. There is a broad range of effects, any of which can be experienced in any area that is susceptible to hurricanes, which is why you should always prepare for the worst.

You can't say which one will hit Louisiana. It is all unknown. I have been through many Hurricanes. Including Katrina in Louisiana. It was terrible and my last one. I moved inland after that. Hurricanes are awful and you can never say how they will be.
