I don't. Our justice system only works for the poor and unknown citizen. If you are rich (even you don't contribute anything to society like Paris Hilton) you still commit a crime and walk free if you cry and act like a drama queen. That's exactly what happened. Paris Hilton can go back to her mansion and party again. I think those judges in CA are jokers. They don't have back bones to stand up to this spoilled, annoying, useless woman just because she has enough money to buy herself a out of jail free card. It's worst than playing monopoly. What do you think?

Unbelievable. While we're trying to spread democracy around the world (hic, hic..) we can't even lock up Paris Hilton. Yes, other countries really look up to America for advices. NOT.

This society is out of control. I think if we stop going to the movie, buying records, stop glamorizing their life styles or do anything to support these people, they will step down their high horses and realize that they're not above the law.

It's an absolute joke! In the midwest, they'll take a mother (usually black) who knew her BF was buying or smoking marijuana and lock her up for ten years - destroying a family, but Nicole Ritchie can use COCAINE, drive, crash and still gets to go home that night and keep her license!

I am so furious over these losers! There are pics of them doing lines of cocaine and the cops just look the other way! The whole thing is a joke. I no longer trust the cops (not just because of this, but a series of things including things in my own area), the justice system and especially not lawyers! And (knock on wood) I have never had contact myself with the justice system (nor would I expect to in the future). My opinions come from the news stories I read as well as the stuff I see with my own eyes.

Our country's priorities are all screwed up. We've got to make a change!

Well I am not a parent, I'm a fifteen year old teenager who's BIGGEST fear has been to get kidnapped or raped. And I agree with you, it's absolutely disgusting. Just like the person said before me that they probably don't even have children. It's cruel and unusual punishment? ?!?!?!?!!!! What about for the child itself who was raped. That's the cruel and unusual punishment that NOBODY deserves. Thanks to those horrible rapists and molestors that child/person will never be the same, even after years and years of therapy. They are going to have images that can never be erased no matter how hard they try that can and might affect them as adults. That is just sickening. If I could I would rip out all the rapists genitals and stick it up the other end and THEN kill them. But I guess I can't. I may not be a parent and only a teen but I see why you're enraged by this. I am too. It makes me even MORE so afraid of something like that happening to me. I can't even walk to school by myself because I'm afraid something like that will happen to me. I'm afraid to stay home by myself. If a bunch of these sicko's weren't running around and got what they deserved maybe I wouldn't have to live in paranoia.

I think there should be truth in sentencing . In other words if the defendant gets 15 yrs for something he should absoloutly do the 15 yrs and not a day less . this country forgives criminals all too easy and they should not . I believe if a criminal gets out of jail early and does the same crime all over again obviously they have not learned anything and deserve to be locked up for the rest of their lives . The justice system in this country is only half baked . it needs an overhaul .

Our justice system sucks @ss!!! I can't belive they released her for "Unspecified medical reasons". I bet you there are hundreds of people in jail who have medical conditions (more than half of the population in jail have some kind of mental disorder or learning problems) and all of them have to stay in jail. That's complete B.S.
The people behind the justice system are the same people who are trying to build a wall all around the U.S. so illegal immigrants won't come in...but the immigrants are probably the only ones working to make a living, not just living off of "mummy and daddy's" money!!! And they stay in jail when they are caught breaking the law, this Bit** is getting out of jail free (well she probably paid a big amount, as well as sucked you know what while she was there).

It is a joke and not just because of Paris, but soon Scooter Libby will skate as well as countless others. I am so sick of it, I mean why do us regular folk even bother to pay taxes when we're the ones that are treated the worse.

I don't drink and drive and my driver's license is clean, but I bet if I were to get pulled over for a DUI, I'd go to jail and have to do whatever time the judge put down on me.

2 days in jail for Paris Hilton...why even bother?

I had a nephew get in trouble, mom doesn't have money or come from a influential family. He showed up for a court date, they canceled. When he showed up for court the next time they immediately locked him up for not appearing at the court date that was canceled. He had proof someone at the courts office had documented it, than forgot to put it on their files. They were going to lock him up a extra 6 months for that. As it was he served 6 months for what he did. My problem with this is, it was the first time he had EVER been in trouble and they wouldn't even give him probation. (He had a end piece of a joint on him.) Another person in our community has been arrested numerous times for drugs and all he is doing is UNSUPERVISED PROBATION. But of course his parents had money and come from a real well known family. Money and a well known name always makes it easier, why the poorer people never get a break.

Not in a long time. Here in Philly, a few years ago, the wife of a Eagles exec hit and killed a newlywed on the expressway while he was changing a flat. She didn't stop and tried to cover up her crime by getting her SUV repainted and then sold it. After all of that she only received an 18 month jail term, she was out in 3 mos.

I don't either. Yes you are right about paris and money . In small towns as well this happens. Money is the root of all evil. I know that people in small towns can even have things and the law work against them not protect them and do nothin more than damage the lives of innocent people. I have heard cases where they use kids against moms and dads not caring about the fact of a chils well being. A man was a drug user and married to a woman who had kids not his and he abused his wife and done drugs the law used the kids against the mom to try to put his drug dealing friends behind bars while the mom was innocent. But they took her kids for months because they are the law..........so called law this is their power. a woman raped went to the law to press charges on the man come to find out the detecive played ball with the man who raped her and a arrest that night of a man drinking and drivinbg was told by the law about the so called rape of the woman and the man involed come to find out it was the womans boyfriend and no one in the law office knew that further investing they found out the hard way when she told the other law enforcement about them talking about the case with people they were arresting on the streets. They foundd the rapist innocent!!!!! and the law office helped him cause they knew him what a system we have!!!!! Lets send them all to the military

I agree with you. Our justice system is so out of whack that I'm sure other countries are sitting back and laughing their a**es off at us ( among other things that they laugh at us for). I've heard of calling in sick to get out of work. I guess some of us can call in sick to get out of a jail sentence as well. It's truly ridiculous.
