I'm going to try to help you..... We are fighting a war in Iraq. In war, people die and things get broken. We're trying hard not to kill innocent people or damage important infrastructure, but it happens. It's called collateral damage. War here would kill more Americans and destry more American infrastructure.
It's wrong to think that terrorists would stand out here. The 9/11 terrorists didn't wear signs that said, "Look at me, I'm a terrorist." They will not stand out here any more than you or me.
As for the death toll, anytime young people die it's bad, it hurts familes, communities; it impacts families forever. And it happens every day, multiple times a day, all across this nation in numbers far greater than in Iraq. I know way too much about this subject to be brought to task for my comments, but I'm sure I will.....
We have always had as a policy that fighting abroad is better than fighting here because we've seen the devastation war brings. We are all far better off for it.

sturdy question. a million. Clinton cut back the size of the army with the aid of 50% - we are overextended now. 2. in spite of the conflict, purely 4% of the GNP is being despatched to the protection rigidity. The Reagan administration "surge" replaced into purely 6%. Kennedy used 9%. Eisenhower 11%. professionals have been asserting that it desires to be approximately 8% for greater or less two decades to repair the wear finished with the aid of Carter, HW Bush, Clinton, and W Bush. 3. The Air rigidity is being required to cut back its length much greater - NOW - on an analogous time as a number of small-scale wars are happening or maybe although they too are over prolonged. 4. Emergency troops - the shield and Reserve - are getting used like energetic duty troops endangering the entire gadget. Employers can't be predicted to hire people who would be long previous 50% of the time. 5. Radical Islam is a conflict the place the winner makes a decision what civilization is like - merely like WWII and the chilly conflict. We hav the means despite if entitlements are making use of in way over 50% of the GNP - what's lacking is the political and relatives will. i think of each and every physique is deluded with the aid of the sturdy cases and merely can't see the prospect.

I guess as long as you don't count suicide bombings and attacks by terrorists as terrorists plots, then yes, we have stopped every terrorists plot. But if you include those as terrorists plots, there are a couple every week in Iraq.
I think the best thing would be to actually go after the terrorists. Rather then occupying a country, we should be fighting terrorist organizations.

You are a genius, man!
We just need to lure these terrorists into America's worst neighborhoods, like the bad parts of Baltimore and blighted places like the shame of the "Rust Belt": Gary, Indiana.
Once the terrorists arrive in these areas, we cut off all roads leading there. We figure that, since these neighborhoods are poor, they must have lots of gang members who will defend their turf. All we have to do is pit the terrorists against the gang members. Can you imagine a bunch of Arabs trying to hold their ground against some vicious inner city gang that would slit a grandmother's neck just to get her modest pension check? Those terrorists are gonna be as outmatched as a soccer match between Italy and Lichtenstein.

Yeah, you're a bright one. Lets fight on our soil. Just in case you haven't noticed terrorists don't come over in a sailboat dressed in full military gear with a big honking sign saying "We are the terrorists". They covertly operate with their plans until they are able to commit some sickening act against innocent people. We need to keep them in other countries as much as we can.

I've often wondered this myself. I never have come to a complete conclusion. I think we could kick their butts here far better. However the idea of war in our country is not something I care to entertain. As a woman of peace I think there must be a better way.

You are utterly insane. What are you, ten?
Yes, it's a great idea to arrest them when they come here. We're doing that. Perhaps it's not such a great idea to be fighting in Iraq. But only a crazed lunatic would invite them into his country so that he can have a war in his backyard. You're so far away from reality that I don't think you'll ever find your way back.

They don't have "home turf;" terrorism is not associated with any one nation. They are nomadic and will go where they feel they can accomplish their goal the best. The war in Iraq is not the same thing as the war on terror.
Besides... we ARE fighting them here.

And what are we supposed to do, send out engraved invitations "You are cordially invited to engage in armed conflict within the United States border. Bring Your Own Weapons. BBQ to immediately follow main event. "
Come one, get real. Yeah, it breaks my heart to see so many soldiers die, but do you want to add the lives of Americans to that total? Not to mention the destruction of American cities? Where's your brains, man?
