I am supposed to rewrite this equation as a function of x and I have no clue where to start.

I tried working it out and my guess of an answer is
10y=4x+11
or
Y= 10+4x+11

would that be the same as
2/5x-11/10?

I have multiple choice answers, I chose C.

a) y=-2/5x+11
b) y= 2/5x-11
c) y= 2/5x-11/10
d) y= -2/5x+11/10

You're on the right track with your first answer, but your algebra is a bit off, and you need to isolate the objective y to finish the function.

4x - 10y = 11 Now subtract 4x from both sides of the equation:
-10y = 11 - 4x Now, divide both sides of the equation by -10:
y = 11/-10 + 4x/10 Let's simplify and rearrange slightly:
y = 0.4x - 1.1

So f(x) = 0.4x - 1.1

f(x) basically means y...so the equation should come out to b...
f(x) = (4/10)x - 11/10

4x-10y=11
-11+10y-11 +10y
(4x-11)/10=10y/10
y=(4/10)x - 11/10
f(x) = (4/10)x - 11/10
