Take the first number and put it in front of a decimal point. The other numbers follow.

Multiply that by 10^x

x is the number of places you have to move the decimal place. If you move it to the right, x is negative. If you move it to the left, x is positive.

0. 0 0 0 8.9
. . 1 2 3 4 (to the right, so negative)

8.9 * 10^-4

3. 2 4 0 2 2 2 .
. . 1 2 3 4 5 6 (to the left, so positive)

3.240222 * 10^6
