I think happiness comes from an inner sense of peace and an acceptance that not everything is perfect combined with a drive to keep making things better.

I think money does not equal happiness but if you have it, you can put it to good use for contentment for yourself and others around you.

I don't think it does--my parents are multimillionaires, and all they think about is their business and their property. They never do anything for themselves or anyone else--the money just piles up. I'm an only child, and I've been through foreclosure twice, but it's not their problem. On the other hand, I think having enough money to know that you can pay your bills without having to worry would help. If the bills are paid, with maybe a little extra to do the things you love, that would be enough.

Generally, money itself, no. Money is a relative thing.

Happiness is achieved by setting and achieving goals.

If having a certain amount of money is a goal then you will derived pleasure from all the successes you encounter on your way to striving and then accomplishing that goal.

But once any goal is accomplished the feeling of hapiness derived from that goal begins to deminish.

You can apply anything to this concept - winning a gold medal, earning a certain title, getting a certain make of car...

After a while the hapiness fades.

However, money doesn't buy hapiness but it can help you succeed in satisfying some tasks that allow you to achieve other goals.

So money itself won't make you happy but it can empower you to make yourself happy.

Sometimes it seems that way, you get money from being successful, and success is good right? But then you have all the miserable people in the world, and they are rich. I guess money can be used as a facade of your real emotions, just buy stuff you'll be happy. Sadly, you can't buy happiness, you have to be satisfied with yourself, and if you hate your job/spouse/whatever made you rich that can't happen.

I feel it'd help a lot. You only need so many material possessions to be happy. It would be a lot of fun at first, but the novelty would eventually wear off.

Having all of my bills always paid at all times would relieve a lot of stress and headaches. Never having to worry about being in debt.

Also it depends on what you do with your money. I think it'd make me happy to be able to help those closest to me.

Of course not! What money can buy is not happiness, but is the desire of fulfilling your greed! Only you can find happiness and only when you are willing to! Happiness is only inside yourself; it's just about getting the key to it! You have to make yourself believe you're happy in spite of all the imperfections surrounding you and this will be the only time when you'll actually find bitter sweet bliss! Trust me, I'm someone of experience :-)

I don't think money = happiness.

I do think money helps alleviate certain stress. If you don't have to worry about money, you don't have to worry about food, shelter, medical care, creature comforts...
you can concentrate on other things in life.

but happiness, no. Just look at Hollywood celebrities or rock stars - a lot of chaos, drugs, divorce, etc... Not a lot of "real' happiness - IMO

Money can be happiness when it is used as a buffer to lessen the severity of the inevitable misfortunes that we encounter in life. When money is sought as a means to happiness because we intend for it to bring us pleasure, however; it does exactly the opposite because it strengthens our illusion that we can obtain total happiness in this world, which in turns heightens the pain when we discover this to be untrue.

A friend (with money) once said "Money can't buy happiness, but it CAN buy time. What you do with that time can bring you happiness."
