Why is it so hard to make friends here in Switzerland? Why do you not let foreigners into your hearts? Why do you keep your distance?I come from a loving warm country and I really stuggle to find a good friend here.

Integration into any different social group (acculturation) is always a challenge.

Unfortunately, there are factors which influence your acceptance, such as, your native language, nationality, profession and social class.

People who don't speak the local language or at least English, who come from underdeveloped or not highly developed countries, who have little education and who come from a poor background are in disavantage from the others.

It's unfair, but it's the reality.

You also have to understand that some peoples (such as the Swiss) are more reserved or anti-social than others (such as apparently the people from your country).

Oh, and I'm NOT a Swiss.

Well, in urban areas it's quite difficult for anybody to really get in contact with new people, also for Swiss!

For foreigners it might be an extra challenge as there are really many foreigners (20% of the population) and many nationalities are rather disliked than appreciated, also due to a different culture.

I don't know where you are from and where you live in Switzerland - I only could recommend to be active and join any kind of activities you like, and that if possible rather in a small village.

BTW: I'm Swiss, m/34 and live in the Zurich area
