You mean by drawing lines, corner to corner on each tile, right (as apposed to drawing a line from the corner of one tile to the corner of another)? For just one tile I see eight triangles. In four tiles I see 44.

There aren't any triangles. All of the lines are right angles. You'd need some diagonals to make triangles.
