I have a ganglion cyst on my right wrist. I have been going to the doctors for a while now and have tooken alot of meds for the pain. But it is really now working. Everytime i move and my wrist it hurts. The doctors are telling me they want me to wait until july 3rd to see if has gone away. Than they will talk about removing it. But it has been there since April 26, 2007. It has been 45days. And its not getting any smaller. What should i do? Any advice?

I know what you're going through as I have had a Ganglion Cyst. I left it alone and eventually it went away on its own. It took several years. It sounds like you cannot tolerate the pain, try placing ice packs on the area for ten minutes several times a day. This may help ease the pain. It takes time for these cysts to dissolve, try and wait until July the third. It's much better if It can go away on its own then to have to have surgery. surgery is never easy, but could be the answer for your problem.

In the past, home care has included topical plaster, heat, and various poultices. It even extended to use of a heavy book to physically smash the cyst (sometimes this is called “Bible therapy”). These forms of treatment are no longer suggested, however, because they have not been shown to keep the ganglion cysts from returning and could, in fact, cause further injury.
While the Bible therapy is no longer recommended, it worked for me. I had a cyst a long, long time ago, had someone hit it with a large book and it has never returned!
This is a good link about them however!

I'm surprised your doctors are treating it with meds. It is a fairly simple in-office procedure to aspirate the cyst, bind it tightly, and let it heal. In some cases a steroid may be injected into the aspirated cyst to prevent blood from filling the void. In either case the cyst is gone and the pain ebbs away after a week or two. In some cases the cyst returns and a procedure may be necessary to remove the emptied cyst to prevent its reappearance.
I'd suggest another doctor, or at least discussing with your doctor the aspirating of your cyst now.

I have a cyst in the same place on my right wrist as well. It'll often swell or shrink randomly... I'd suggest you get a wrist brace for the moment to help with the pain since it will limit movement on that hand. I've had mine drained 3x, twice by needles and once by cutting it. It has always returned. Do what I said and give it time, if it goes away then they won't do anything... if they do surgery it could still come back.

i know its not quite the same but i had a mybomian cyst in my eyelid for well over a year. I kept being misdiagnosed by nurses and doctors who wouldn't listen to me. it was very prone to infection and was really sore and irratating at times. i eventually had one round of surgery which failed and was transferred to a specalist at my hospital where i had a second round of surgery which we hope has been a success.
dont wait until july if its sore- keep going back to them again and again until you get the results you want. But be warned surgery is not always effective, if it is the cyst wall may still take some time to break down and you may be prone to cysts and though unlikely to come back again in the same place you may get others from time to time.
Don't give up though, keep badgering those doctors, you shouldn't be suffering!
