I'm expecting a package from someone in Brampton, Ontario this a pretty big town around the Toronto area. The person said they sent it May 15th. I live in Okemos, Michigan a town two minutes from Lansing. Should I have gotten the package already? I'm going a way for the summer on June 15th will it be here by then? Would it be a good idea for me to go to the post office to see if they have it there? The person who sent it said that I should expect a letter in the mail telling me to go and pick it up at the post office. She said where she sent it from the regular post office and they said it should only take 2 - 3 buisness days. Well any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

I would think that if they sent something to you then it should be sent to your residence address (and not be held at the post office). If I were you, and for ease of mind, I'd phone the post office and ask. If the sender was sending something important they would have make it certified mail or something wherein you would have to sign for it. Otherwise, you have your check or money order or paypal payment or whatever to prove that you made the payment.

Over the past six years I've had all kinds of problems getting my mail. A local letter that I received yesterday took 25 days to get here when it should have taken 3 days at the most. Other times my mail was returned to me (post office said the size of the letters, size 14, was not acceptable for their sorting machines....say what?). Ask your sender to email you proof that they sent it.

'The person who sent it said that I should expect a letter in the mail telling me to go and pick it up at the post office.'

I have never heard of the post office sending you a letter saying to pick up a parcel at the post office. If the postal service has a parcel for you they will attempt delivery. If there is a safe place to leave it at your address, they will leave it.
If the letter carrier does not feel it is safe to leave the parcel at your home, they will leave a pink 3849 postal form in your mailbox. This form will let you know where to pick up the item.
After 1 week, if you have not picked up the item, the USPS will leave another pink slip as a reminder.
There is no need to call the post office if you have not received the PS 3849.
More likely, the shipper has not mailed it yet, despite what they claim, or it is slow going through customs.

You should have received it by now. Make sure it was sent to the correct address and then go ask the post office if they have it for delivery. The note to pick it up may have gotten lost.
