I don't really know how to help you other than just say,
"Scrap metal" over and over...emphasizing the T sound. MeT-al.

Are you English As A Second Language?

Property pronounced as the "t" in "met" such as metull. However you will be understood if you say it as "med ull"

As a hard T. Just like mettle.

Not as a D in medal.

I say it w/ a "d" sound, too.

I have not heard anyone say it with a brassy "t".
