I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware both spyware killers for years. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans etc. AVG does not slow the system down as much as some other products and Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from the following link. http://www.computeractive.co.uk/ On the home page select downloads and then the appropriate category.I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps.

I have been with BT broadband for a few years now and I searched Yahoo for a antivirus programme advisable for BT yahoo and it showed me Norton...I installed it and used it occasionally. I have not had any trouble with it[Norton internet security is ok also]. I had installed on one of my laptops..AVG free and it slowed my laptop down to a snails pace and I soon got rid of it.

BT Broadband is good, but I got rid of the Norton anti-virus and antispyware and downloaded AVG to replace each of them.
Norton really is the PITS!

Norton is a resource hog, it can slow your PC down by as much as 15%. It is not an Anti-spyware program, It used to be one of the best Anti-virus programs out there. Not anymore.
For more info AND better choices, go to:
Then, you need to install: ONE Anti-virus (AVG free), ONE Firewall (Zone Alarm free), and Anti-spyware tools like: Windows Defender, Spybot, Ad-Aware, Spyware Blaster and cCleaner (free, use all 5 regularly).
Google for them, install them and learn how to use (use Help TAB).

Mate,Symantec is the best company and has the best experience in defensing viruses and worms...it's just not popular on our computers especially for home users as it's so heavy and may crash with other anti spyware programs.
Me prefer F-Secure,I have been using it 3 years in both my home pc and office pc,it can detect 96% of viruses according to AOL test, the Kaspersky has been marked as the top with 99.6% virus detection, bit defender is in the second place with 96.8%,F-Secure in the third place,PC-Ciliin in the forth with 95%,NOD32 in the fifth with 94%,and mcafee in the sixth.

Don't bother - it is junk - the freebie progs work better - Norton hugs resources and was recently tested by a well known PC magazine and it failed miserably - AVG Anti Virus FREE EDITION out performed it and was one of the top performers - why do you think they are GIVING it to you.

It's often Antivirus programs don't work very well and viruses slips through. This is not the case with Norton. Definately try it out here:

Norton is slated because it eats up your computers rescources, slowing it down. In effect, its too secure..
If installed on a brand new system, it should have a good clean install, but it can conflict
