It can help trigger it sometimes in a full term pregnancy, but it is not true that it definitely will. It's only a possibility.

We tried that when our baby was late, and it didn't trigger anything in our case.

It is true...closer to the 40 week time period. It seems there is prostaglandin in the semen and Prostaglandins are what the doctor's give to induce labor. Your body has to be close to ready though, so don't worry if your having sex and still in the first or second trimester. Articles are below.

Nope; works in the last stages of pregnancy. I don't think you have to worry about it like at 3 months or 5 months. But check with your doctor after 8 months.

Myth or not, its as good an excuse as any... but I think, to be ssure, you should go with the "orgasm induces labor" approach.

No-of course it depends how far along you are if it will.

I was 2 weeks over-due and my Dr told me to go home and have sex -it would probably throw me in labor.

I did and was in labor the next morning.

It is a myth. I used to worry that I would hurt the baby somehow. And it's uncomfortable if you feel like you've already swallowed a watermelon. Just take it easy, and enjoy.

You should not be having sex at that stage. That's poor judgement and not very sensible.
