and here is the other definition
member of a socially disadvantaged class of persons ...so with this definition isn't it a little contradicting?

lol some of you are misunderstanding my question..its hard to word it, I am aware that its a derogatory term for black folks, but it makes no sense if the other definition is this
a member of a socially disadvantaged class of persons

So what I am thinking is that because of this second definition of the n-word, any race could be called one..because the second definition doesn't really call out a specific race, am I wrong in my assumption?

The N word originally comes from the name of the African country Niger. Apparently many slaves were taken from Niger ofcourse the rednecks that were in the slave trade could not pronounce the word Niger correctly and wind up mistakingly adding an extra g to it. So at first it was not meant to be derogatory at all, they were simply trying to describe the people from the country Niger.
Ofcourse once they got to the south the word evolved to mean what it is today and apparently the word is continuously evolving.
It also mean Machine, Southerners looked at their slaves as property not people, so the N word took on the meaning of the term machine as in a beast of burden or a tiller or a cotton gin etc etc.
The new meaning of Ni66XX incorporates white trash people as well that's something many of you may not be aware of. So don't be surprised if you hear black people referring to you as a ni66XX.

I was raised that it is the black criminal types. Or the ones who live in filth and off the Government. The ones who think white people owe them something and want to push there views in a violent way.
I have some black friends and I know that not ALL black people are "that word." If you acted like a N**er, than you may be called one here in Georgia.
Why is there not a word for white people who act like this? White trash is just not anywhere near rude enough as the black word!

I am guessing here.
It is a slang word for the word ***** which is black in either Spanish or Italian. And as we all know black is the term to describe African peoples.
But unlike ***** which was probably less used than ******* it wasn't as rude. Also I think the word ***** is used to describe the whole race of Africans, sort of like how caucasian is used to classify the white race. Also Yahoo doesn't censor ***** so it must be okay to say.

Growing up, my mom always said the N word defined a lazy person. She told us not to act like the N word. So to me, anyone could be the N word.
But really, its an awful word as is Kyke, WOP, Cracker, etc. All of those words should be banned.

Through the years blacks have been changing what they wanted to be called (*****, colored, Afro American, black), but as far as I can remember, the N word has always been used by bigots and racists. That defination about it meaning black person should be removed from new versions of dictionaires.

listen to chris rock's 'black people v. *******' comedy routine. i wouldn't suggest incorporating his definition for your everyday language use, but it's wildly hysterical social commentary.
