If you say" 2 people died and got injured" it would mean that two people were injured and two people died. A better way to say that would be"two people died from their injuries"

It is a badly worded sentence.
It actually implies that 2 people died, and then those same two people got injured

The sentence is not clear this way, and should not be used. You would not say this.
Maybe if it was a larger number, you would say "78 people were killed or injured".
But two - say "one person was killed and one injured".
