Well, the first answer which you got gave branches only and I was wondering what you meant. Now, I feel you meant this way:
Science can be broadly divided into two divisions:
Theoretical
Applied
There can be a few sub-divisions like Teaching, R&D, Administration,
These divisions more or less apply to all branches of science like Astronomy, Chemistry, Physics etc.
If you think the above are divisions, may be you can think and explore further.
