I would suggest you leave the lights off over night every night. FIsh need their dark periods as well as light. A 12 hour day is the max you should use in a tank. I doubt the 24 hour light is the cause of the problem with your java moss though, that's a lack of nutrients. Most likely an iron shortage.

yes, actually the only time you really want to leave the light on is if you are breeding, the constant light helps the fish grow faster. But, you should only leave the light on about 12 hours a day. After that you could start having problems with algae.

You should turn the light off on the tank overnight. Fish and plants are used to a light/day cycle, just like we are. It is unnatural to have light 24/7 - it will contribute to algae growth and your fish will be stressed. They need to sleep, too!

Yea sure, i leave my light off, sometime all day, i wouldn't worry about moss growing. I actually leave my light off all the time at night. Your fish and Java moss will be fine.
Good Luck.

You should keep the light on in the day and off at night...this is what would happen if the fish was in the wild so its okay if it happens in the tank :)

Yes you should turn out their light every night. If you give your fish down time they will be healthier. Leave the light on all the time and they will get stressed easier and become ill more often.

You should turn off the lights at night. Not only does it help reduce algae problems, but fish do sleep, they just cannot shut their eyes and constant stimulus from a bright light can mess with their circadian rhythm.

you should have the light on only 8-10 hours a day. i use timers for my lights. The fish don't really need lights but the plants do.

If you leave the lights off in your tank, there will be alot of co2 gas in your tank. THe plants don't take in co2 in the night/whent he lights are off, unless you have an air pump to supply your oxygen. Also, your fish will look better with the lights on.

Please turn the light off at night. Your fish will thank you for it. They prefer to have a night. You are probably stressing them with the 24/7 day schedule they are currently dealing with.
