I generally listen to music, because then I think about the music and the lyrics and whatnot. Sometimes when I really don't want to think about something, I try to memorize the lyrics of a song.

Either a series of small numerical problems or I mentally recall the positions and number of traffic signals between my former home in Surrey and South Kensington, where my office was situated.
Sad, anorak-like but highly effective.

When I am not thinking about anything then I think of how nice it would be to eat a bar of chocolate. If you saw me you would know I do a lot of thinking (18 stone 5' 7" tall).
