Did one parent seem cool and the other not so much? My dad seemed cool as I was growing up, but I lived with my mom and she was not so cool. Why was your one parent "cooler" than the other?

My dad seemed cooler when I was a kid, but in talking to both my mom and dad about different things as an adult, I am starting to learn more about my mom and how much she really does love me. My dad can be very distant at times, I've come to find out through my own experience.

My mom, I'd have to say was and is beyond cool, she's undefinable because she's a single parent of two after the divorce, and without help too because it all didn't end well either. When my Dad came back into the picture, there was nothing bad at all. He's a cool parent too. I'm at his house right now. Everything is smooth sailing.

No, neither of my parents were cool. My mom basically raised my sister and me and had to be the "heavy" because she was with us day in and day out. When we would see my dad (for a month or two out of the year), he would put everything into "playing father" when we were with him and would impose very strict rules and punishments just because he could. Now that I am older, I appreciate my mom and what she did for me so much - and she definitely has become cooler and more relaxed with age!

I have had a double whammy of it my parents divorced then I divorced my ex after 20 years (long story) My Mom got custody Dad just disappeared into his own new life and had trouble connecting with me. But now since my own divorce my Dad and I became close (I became his hero for letting go of someone he told me to watch out for) It may be dull but it has a happy ending!

I drifted more towards my dad after my mom married a guy who I didn't like, but my dad was always so far away on buisness trips and such so I had to live w/ my mom who's new husband abused me badly and still does, but now I have learned not to get in his way...I found it hard to connect w/ my mother at all because she was so wrapped up in her new husband, but over time I have learned that both my mom and my real dad love me dearly and I love them both so much...it just gets to me sometimes when I wonder what my life would have been like if they hadn't got divorced...

Neither- Mom abandoned us, Dad was at the bar for the next 20 years. She has since died and he quit drinking 22 years ago.

Yep, same as yours.
Coz I lived with my mum, so when I saw my dad it was more about having fun and less about parenting.

Not really, they both had their strengths/weaknesses.
