My Mother has always stayed home to raise the kids (and now some grand kids). My Father was a prison guard (he got to watch over Mike Tyson while he was on "hiatus") and is now medically retired. I worked in nursing before having my baby and now I stay at home with her(We tried for nine years to have her, so I'm not missing any part of her growing up!). My husband is a police officer.

I was raised to value an education greatly, despite my mother's lack of one. My mother was working on an accounting degree when I came along, so she ended up dropping out of college. She worked for a couple of years as a bank teller (which she loves and would like to continue), did a stint in retail, and worked for a couple of weeks as a receptionist at a dentist office. For most of my life, though, she was just a stay at home mom, watching my little sister.
My father started out as a radio dj. He had a degree in Radio and TV broadcasting. When he got laid off by the station, he needed a new job. So, he went back to school and got a degree in Electrical Engineering while working for Miss Utility locating buried telephone cable. When he graduated with his degree, he got a job at a shipyard working as an engineer, and has moved up in the ranks to become an instructor there. He also got his MBA, and will probably move up in the company more before he retires.
I am a high school English teacher at the ripe old age of 23. My father doesn't really like my career choice, because he feels that I could make more money doing something else. For the most part, I enjoy my job (until May/June...then I can't wait for the year to be over). I will have my Master's degree in education in May of 2008, and have considered getting a PhD in Library Science and becoming a Librarian...I like helping students learn to love to read, and don't really like the grading aspect of teaching. We shall see.

Well my mom is a revenue auditor at UPS. She pretty much takes packages she thinks have been weighted wrong, or are over weight and measures them, scans them, writes on them, and the people shipping them get charged for the weight they don't specify on the box, or for being over weight. She makes enough money for pocket money and eating out sometimes, but the benifits she gets with it are tremendous. She only works part time, and they couldn't be better. I had a $10,000 surgury last year for $10. No lie.

My dad is the district utility engineer in roads for our area. He moves utilities like electricity, water lines, and such out of the way of new roads or road improvements. If the utilities are not on the right-of-way owned by the state, he has to consult the company that owns them, and let them move it. He has been at his job just over 30 years, well he's been at the state that long, and makes over a $50,000 salary.

Me, I go to high school. No special job or anything.

My dad was a teacher, went on to become a principal. Then, a Superintendent of a city school system (they are called Directors of Education now). After retirement, he became a Deacon in our church. My mom was a teacher as well, but only taught until they got married. After that, she was a SAHM with six kids.
I became a teacher, as well, but am currently a SAHM. I have two degrees and have also worked in my adult life as a community college receptionist, a newspaper reporter/photographer, book editor, newspaper editor, and at a mental institution. As a teacher, I'm mainly trained in elementary education, but have taught English as a Second Language, Adult Literacy - not just to regular students, but also to young offenders, provincial correctional inmates, and federally sentenced psychiatric inmates. I've also done volunteer tutoring, and taught computers.
I'm from a family of six kids - three of us are teachers, and two went on to be principals; two are nurses, and one is a car dealership partsperson.

My parents are total opposties. My mom is a manager at a local grocery store and makes about 13 per hour. She doesn't even work full time. My dad on the otherhand, works whenever he is booked. He works at fairs across the U.S. and in Canada, doing comendy shows, magic, pupppets.... you name it, he'll do it. He makes real good money but he isn't booked often in the winter so then he works at the hospital.

I work at a craft store and a grocery store, 8/hour. Combining the hours I make full time.

My mom works for a nursing home. She is a registered nurse. My dad is in the computer business and is a manager for a major company. I work with computers helping patients who have heart problems. mainly deal with heart patients who have tachycardia- thats where the heart beats to fast, the heart dosent get enough oxygen and nutrients to function properly. (they need to get it shocked into rythem). These type of patients often experience fainting spells / blackouts/ dizziness or temporary blind spots. Alot of the patients that I deal with experience SCD (sudden cardiac death) I believe the numbers are 450,000 experience SCD in the united states anually, and only 20-30% servive. Heart disease is the number one killer in America it kills more people then all cancers combined. (this is in men and woman). PLEASE MAKE PEOPLE AWARE OF THIS NOW!
