There is a wonderful park in Hingham, Mass, known as World's End. I affectionately call it, World's Dead End. Although it is within eyesight of Boston, it is a remarkable piece of land that was designed by the famous landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted with roads and trees to develope it into a housing development. Those plans were put on hold in the 1940s and there was hope the United Nations would be developed there. Later someone thought they would put a nuclear plant. Thankfully, the Trustees of the Reservations have control over the land and hopefully it will remain as is for generations to come. It is the place I go when I'm able for both solace and inspiration.

It's a little clearing at a river near where I live; it's always been a peaceful place where I can read or relax. Sometimes I take close friends there and we have picnics. It's beautiful at sunset when the light filters through the trees all around it, I absolutely love it :)

Wow great question! I had to think a minute on this one, and what comes to my mind believe it or not, is my garden....right in my own backyard. I have 4 different sections of garden out there, and I have lots of different vegetables growing in them. For some reason, gardening is a great stress reliever. There's always something that has to be done in them, pulling weeds etc, and daily there's always something different about it, like something new is starting to sprout. At night especially, I sit out there and watch leaves blow especially on my corn, just a peaceful atmosphere.

In my head, at sea. In my heart, Tasmania, where the mountains and forests sweep down to the sea in wonderful wild places, or even within a few hours sail of Hobart. In fact now I'm no longer sea-worthy, with my First Mate (well, second or third actually but the best) in our Medieval mud-brick pile outside Melbourne, and with my family. And in my memories good and bad now the pain's behind me.

I'm afraid you're going to find this very silly, but it's the Cracker Barrel Restaurant. I know, it's a chain, so how could it make me feel so at home? But think about it: isn't that exactly what the designers had in mind?

With my true friends. Anywhere with them is home. Or, with my parents. I'm grown (36) and have a family of my own, but I'll never outgrow the feeling I get when I'm with my mom.
There is also something soothing about the mountains ~ I love them!
