my right testicle keeps disappearing inside my body when I get an erection. Is this the sign of a hernia or is there some other cause?

It's called a retractile testicle, and in your case it's probably due to spermatic cord that is too short or tight, and the inguinal canal is large enough to allow it to slip back into the abdomen. It is corrected surgically, and is a fairly straightforward and simple procedure- especially if the testicle is descended when it it done. While it is not particularly life threatening, it is worth having corrected because it increases your chances of cancer and decreases your fertility. The inguinal canal being enlarged also leaves you open to developing a hernia, and that could be life threatening. So make an appointment with a urologist, get it checked out and get it fixed. It's not an emergency, but not something to put off too long either.

it is normal for the testicles to draw themselves up close to the body during an erection and for many it seems like it is going up inside the body. now, if it actually is going way up inside your body and doesn't descend afterwards that is a problem to be taken care of immediately. if it always comes back down just be sure to mention it to your doctor on your next visit or sooner if it starts becoming painful or if you notice a change. always do a self exam to check for changes often.

Normal, especially if you are laying on your back during masterbation--returning to where it descended. As you get older the area gets thicker and it doesnt ascend as easily. Can be painful sometimes, so you may have to manually push it back or press at the base so it won't ascend.

It could be, but, I would see your doctor.

Testicles and erections are something you don't want to play around with.

Maybe I should rephrase that.

Don't worry, it is normal and your testicle will find his way home.
