u can .. if the motherboard supports it .. check your manual for the socket type and the bios version .. you can get a proc which is of the same socket type and use without any updates ... but if the new processor is not listed, but has same socket type then you will need a BIOS update before using the new proc...

Generally yes and only up to a level that the motherboard supports. But if you have never touched anything inside your PC, do not attempt to do this alone. Ask the help of a PC geek friend.

as said by bze, depends on the expense. some processors are soldered on to the motherboard.. so can't be removed.
also the motherboard, you need to check the spec to see what processor it can take.
use
http://www.filehippo.com/download_everest_home/
to show whats inside your pc without opening it, it will tell you the type of motherboard you have, then check on the motherboards makers website to see whats speeds/type the motherboards supports. this is dependant on a lot of things.
then check the OEM prices of processors, as they might be a tad cheaper.

its usually always never worth the expense ... you can only update to processors with the same socket and the update ones usually arnt that much faster and will give u little real felt performance gain ... usually the single best upgrade on any machine is buying a faster harddrive or going to a raid settup and adding alittle memory up to 2gb .. any more isnt much of a gain either ..

You'll need to check your motherboard supports whatever processor you're planning on putting in first. But to answer your question. Yes you can update them.

Processor is a programmable logic device that performs all the instruction, logic, and mathematical processing in a computer. Consider it as brain of your computer. The best option to upgrade the processor would be to contact the computer shop ask them about the options.
