The fact that you even took the time out to recognize that person for something is all the matters. Not the price or the brand its the idea that you thought of that person enough to buy/make a great gift!

I do indeed. The thoughts are what carry the weight of the gift. I would rather have a card that listed all the things they would 'want' to give me (because they know me and what I want/need) then have a gift card.

Sometimes I mean it. Like if it's a new person trying to impress me. But if it's the same old friend who's pulling the same old crap, like not showing up on time or something, I get very irritated. Then I start looking for my switch blade.

No not all the time. Sometimes I think, "I could have just got the money and brought myself a better gift." I just don't want to hurt the person's feelings.

I try to put a lot of thought into any gift giving, and think of the other person and their interest.

yes as i get older i rather have a card or a call that someone going out and buying me a gift i may never use.

If I genuinely like the gift, I would mean it. But sometimes, I'd be gracious and say that but in my heart, I'd cry out loud and say "I WANT SOMETHING BETTER!!!"
