TV Tuners today are very straight forward, they all work the same way, install card, install software, tune in the channels and you are ready.
The big difference is in the quaulity of the hardware card, and most importantly., how easy/stable the software is.
The best quality for both HW/SW is Nebula, but they are also the most expensive.
I had used many over the years as I am a TV freak, some are good at HW, but poor software, Hauppauage is a good example, their hardware is top quality, but their software could cause your system to crash like a dummy, the solution is to use MediaCenter.
Cinergy is a company I tried and to be honest, sucks bad, they werent cheap so you would expect quality, the software is good and clear, but some problems I have encountered in the pas months simply never answered, very poor software support.
If you really want a cheap and stable TV platform, get a Hauppauage Nove-T/500 and run it under Media Center2005.

Yes, you will be able to view all the channels you view otherwise, using a TV tuner card. Just go out and buy a good quality tuner card.
No, you won't need an internet connection.
Usually, the regular TV cable wire is given as the input. The things you need will be a home PC, a tuner card, a cable TV subscription. Enjoy!

You will need to plug in your cable wire(in same way as you use that with TV).
You can see all channels that are shown on you TV.
There are two types of TV tuners: Internal and External.
Internal lets you to record the programs.
There are TV tuners, with which , you do not need to start your PC(only your monitor will be used to view TV channels).

unless you need a cable box from your local cable company, you will have all the cable channels you can normally view. with out the cable box, you can only watch the unscrambled ones. use a normal cable wire and no internet connection required!

ummm......dont go for gtx 8800 rite now......wait for some time and let direct 10X cards be launched in the market as now most of the upcoming games will run on direct 10X......if u buy it now it will be waste of money and for tv tuners.....the best option is pinnacle tv tuner with video capture and FM....it offers high class viewing....it cost around Rs.2700....i am using it currently and its a value for money

its exactly like connecting a normal television. if you use cable tv for example, you just connect the cable to your computer. no internet connection is needed.
