great evil , Yet we are the only nation that just gives billions of dollars away each and every year ,
they give nothing , but terrorism and threats,
I wish that for 10 years the United States wouldnt give a dime away , look after just ourselves , then I think they all would be clamouring to have things back like they were , agree or disagree?

Americans are regularly told by politicians and the media, that America is the world's most generous nation. This is one of the most conventional pieces of 'knowledgeable ignorance'. According to the OECD, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, the US gave between $6 and $14 billion in foreign aid in the period between 1995 and 1999. In absolute terms, Japan gives more than the US, between $9 and $15 billion in the same period. But the absolute figures are less significant than the proportion of gross domestic product (GDP, or national wealth) that a country devotes to foreign aid. On that league table, the US ranks twenty-second of the 22 most developed nations. As former President Jimmy Carter commented: 'We are the stingiest nation of all'. Denmark is top of the table, giving 1.01% of GDP, while the US manages just 0.1%. The United Nations has long established the target of 0.7% GDP for development assistance, although only four countries actually achieve this: Denmark, 1.01%; Norway, 0.91%; the Netherlands, 0.79%; Sweden, 0.7%. Apart from being the least generous nation, the US is highly selective in who receives its aid. Over 50% of its aid budget is spent on middle-income countries in the Middle East, with Israel being the recipient of the largest single share.

Supersaiyan is right, it's not the fact the U.S gives aid (in fact, as per GDP U.S is one of the worst aid givers in the western world) it's the aggressive policies they have adopted in presenting freedom to the world.
Of course, it is a great thing to help other countries to freedom and democracy, it's good for the populations and the global stability in many cases.
But while freedom and democracy is a noble cause, the nature of a state is such that they should have the freedom and the rights to go in the direction of their own choosing. This is in international law.
How does the U.S feel about people trying to take away their freedom? Obviously bad, it's the same thing on the flipside of the coin.
It might seem like im anti-U.S, but im not, I really think that freedom should be there for those who want it.
What im talking about though is the aggressive policies implemented on behalf of freedom that have left the world wondering what the true motivations of the U.S government are.

The most generous countries are the ones that do not tend to tie aid to their own products and services. The stingiest countries, almost spitefully and nastily, force countries to buy their own services and products with the aid they give; which reduces free trade and commerce and harms the countries economy, as well as being simply selfish and conceited. Thankfully, many countries do not tie their aid. Countries that tie less than 10% of aid include Ireland, Norway and the UK, then Belgium, Finland, Switzerland and Sweden. The USA is the worst, and ties nearly 90% of its aid to developing countries. Italy is the second worst with 70%. The two worst countries for this obnoxious practice in aid-giving are also the two countries out of the most developed countries, who give least generously

Hmmm.....money isn't everything giving money away doesent make you great. It makes you wealthy. In which case our economy is going down the tube as we speak so we wont be giving much away for long....i wish we would stop crazy givings and thing of that sort for 10 years.....our people could use it. The Arabs call us the great evil because we have come over there as a occupying force and have attacked their home and killed many of their innocent civilians for no serious good reason. I mean what would you call something like that? Spreading democracy my tushy.

I wish you would not give a dime away for 10 years as well because with Israel being the recipient of the largest share of your foreign aid they would be the worst hit and would be unable to carry on with their terrorist activities.

It would be nice to see the tax and give aways go away. The problem is that politicians don't want to have the nations on the take becoming angry with them and causing bad press. The leaders of the nations would act like Paris Hilton cut off from her father's money.

I agree. Some people engage in the politics of hate for their own nefarious ends. Unfortunately hate sells newspapers. Love does not.

Agree. We need to stop all the intervention into other nations, including humanitarian efforts.
The rest of the world would change their tune pretty damn quick.
