If the area of the triangle is 60 square inches, how long are the base and height.

I need to show my work. I think part of this formula for the ht, is 2x-1 with the base being x?

Area of a triangle = 1/2 bh
In your example h = 2b - 1
therefore area is 1/2 x b(2b - 1)
as we are told area = 60 therefore 60 = 1/2 x b(2b - 1)
120 = b (2b -1)
ie 2b^2 - b - 120 = 0

then solve for b

An 'x' would do in the above example.
