No not everyone in our country is depressed. There are people out there that have a life, that is almost perfect for them. Some people who have problems in their lives, don't let their problems depresse them. There are people ,who are depressed with a lot of issues, but they are not always depressed. What I am trying to say, is that people deal and handle depression differently. This will seem obvious to you, especially in the future.

As depression goes for me, I am only depressed when I am upset with myself. If something goes wrong for me personally, then I can't handle depression and it gets out of control for me.

Every one is depressed at every point, but the difference depends on how we can let ou our depression. People with more contacts generally come out of their depression or they can lessen the levels through their contacts and surroundings. That is the reason why women are more prone to depressions because of their limited contacts.

Well, the way doctors sling around antidepressants one would think so (I guess some people truly need them, but not THAT many...).

Everyone is not depressed though, it is all a matter of perspective and how individuals deal with certain occurances and feelings. Even the brightest (i.e. cheerful) of people fall into a slump every now and then.

I believe (I'm not a doctor, though) that all people experience depression as part of normal cycles in processing life events, such as grief, disappointment, failure, etc.

Clinical (diagnosed) depression, however, is a persistent condition that keeps someone from being able to function and participate effectively in social situations.

It certainly seems like it. I think more and more people are depressed these days because we live such stressful, fast paced lives and never have enough time to get everything done. I think people feel overwhelmed and lost as to how to balance their lives. It also seems like we are always striving for more in our lives.....more things, a bigger house, a nicer car, keeping up with the Joneses. People need to rethink what's really important in their lives and spend more time concentrating on the truly important things in life.

Everyone is depressed from time to time, but not all the time.
We all get our bad and good experiences in life..
Being depressed (sometimes) is part of life, it's normal as long as it doesn't stay to long.

well, no one knows, you can't ask EVERYONE, can you? + you never know if people are lying to you or not, so there is a possibility that everyone is depressed but knows how to hid it very well. Another one of life's mystery's waiting to be solved, but never will.
