Begin with dolphin kick and then as you slow do breaststroke pulls. Really whatever is fastest for you. Most people cannot swim 50m under the water. If you are doing this you probably have been working toward this for some time and should just do what is best for you. I have swam competitively since I was 8 and am now a swim coach and only know a handful of people who can go 50m without breaking the surface.

I would definitely use breast stroke, because it allows you to stay low + it is quite fast. If you were wearing fins it's another story. In stead of breaststroke you'd do butterfly kick really fast and close to the bottom of the pool.

If you just mean that I can't breathe....I'd swim freestyle (as that's my stroke). If I had to be completely underwater, I'd probably used a breaststroke as it doesn't have to break the water.

Breaststroke, but with dolphin kicks in between breaststroke kicks. Also, if you've got fins, breaststroke arms with only dolphin kicks.

I use an exaggerated form of breaststroke, taking my arms right back to my hips instead of returning them to my chest (which I do when on the surface).

Most swimmers do a dolphin motion with their hands by their sides while swimming underwater. If you lost momentum though, breastroke.
