I've had very many Paul supporters tell me (brag about) the fact that they've all gotten together to rig the poll numbers, I don't consider him a real threat. He's not even Republican.

Sadly, you're probably right--and I'm irritated with myself for not seeing it.
However, his stance on Iraq and the Patriot Act aside, I was reading up on his positions (votesmart.org has non-partisan records of all the candidates), he actually seems like a REALLY good guy!
Not sure if he's viable as presidential material simply because Iraq is such a huge issue.
Thta said, I share his views on taxes--abolish the IRS and most other taxes and institute a flat tax. And I'm really with him on immigration--secure the borders and enforce the laws on the books, stop granting citizenship to anchor babies, etc.. He is actually quite conservative and is well known as a strict originalist, meaning he won't vote for anything not supported by the constitution. At least with that, you'd know what you were getting when you vote him into office.
I'm still leaning toward Thompson and Romney, but I LOVE that Tancredo is using his presidential platform to bring more attention to the illegal immigrant amnesty fiasco.
Still too early to tell how things will resolve, but as much as I am loathe to admit it, I think my original assessment of Paul--earlier this week I said he was basically a RINO (Rep in name only) and was far too liberal... Now I'm not so sure...
Though the fact that Bill Maher and Ben Affleck support him STILL gives me great pause, and it's support like that which seems far more disingenuous--and dangerous--than what I've seen here on YA so far.

I am a conservative Republican, a six year Navy veteran, and a true believer in the greatness of this country. The message Ron Paul brings to the table is one of freedom, liberty, individual responsibility, and respect for one's neighbors.
I hope you are wrong about some of the support, but I really believe this may be a true grassroots movement emerging, the likes of which the mainstream media does not know how to deal with.

All I know is that these early polls are almost always counter-indicative of the primaries.
