i'm planning to do a ball dance and a concert for my 18th birthday.

i'll be using adobe photoshop and will be printing on photo papers.
any ideas for the layout, color theme, design?

How about a backstage pass? Or, a ticket? With a backstage pass you could put a small photo of the person on it.

The movie Josie and the Pussycats comes to mind...glam/rock...
I like the idea previously mentioned about the invitations being "backstage passes". That sounds great--laminate them if you want and attach them to a lanyard?
I'd say anything shiny, glittery--purple/pink/black?

go to www.viovio.com and upload you invite in one of their cool mini full color books. 4"x4" ( they have 3 mini sizes) These are really neat, a new item and really inexpensive. Do you book in photo shop first, full beed and text, and have the back cover be a name and address space where you can hand write out where who to maill out the books to.
Put a sticker to close and mail them out.

Invitations should be in the shape of oragami white swans... even better with "RIDE ME!" sloppily written across them.
Or a close up of Clara Bow with birthday cakes in her eyes.
Or anything with Marc Bolan, aluminium foil, and/or cats in Elizabethan clothing.
