be a strong guiding light, being a father means being constant, say what you mean and mean what you say, never lie to the kids and never do what a woman does, a mother tries to control her kids with empty threats, the old or else and they never follow through with the or else, if my dad said do this or else I knew he meant it, I was the same way with my kids who are both adults now, they have told me they always knew where they stood with me, kids need that structure and firmness.

First of all love.
Parents are the lighthouses of their children and being that the father , same as the mother , must give good examples in the way they live .
What he can do also , and i think this is very important , to admit when he is wrong or did some kind of injustices towards his children( excuse himself.)
It occurs very often , more often than we think.
It'will teach his children that they are bound one day or another to do things or act in a negative way but to admit the fault is very very important.
LIsten to them , take part in their sporting or intellectual activities
Teach them tolerance and sharing .

the best thing is to be there for them no matter what. So many man in this world abandon their children. They want to play but they are not willing to pay. Children need a father in their life. A father needs to love his children unconditional no matter what.

To love them and to be there for them always. My late great father was all that and more to me and the other kids too. He was an outstanding father and a good man.

Be there for them. Be a good role model, love them, and actually spend quality time with them. Teach them respect. How he treats his wife goes a long ways in what kind of traits his kids pick up. They learn from example.

Show his child that love has a tender side that even a burly tough guy can show. Secondly, that he is there to protect and that his family can rest easy because ain't nothing gonna get past him. And finally, that it's ok to laugh and share laughter with each other. Love belongs to everyone.
Aside:
Why can't I message you?
