Well, you can feed many more people on the amount of plants it would take to feed one cow. A cow couldn't feed nearly that many people.

Meat is a; powerful energy. All other energy that people eat are less and less compared to meat protein. The next best is plant's such as quinoa, next different oriental t;ype's of processed soy, next many hundred' s of plant's with tiny amount s of protein, but which is probably enought to maintain health. Religion's do this as a guidance to people, and if meat is needed as my eskimo; tribe 's sole sustenance, Pity the whale's are now toxic up in the arctic, so my tribesmen will either have to become vegetarian's or pig and cattle eater's, like here. This belief chiefly originates in countries that experience high temperatures.
It stems from religions whose laws were/are the common laws of the nation/tribe.
Because meats, particularly soft meats like pork, rot easily in hot weather the leaders(clerics) forbade the unlearned followers to eat them for health reasons. They re-enforced their orders by saying that they were laws from God (to ensure obedience). Many of these laws persist even in modern times, simply because they are regarded as 'God's Laws', although the original reasons may now be redundant.
Some such prevailing laws existed long before the current 'Religions' and, because they made sense at the time, were later embraced by religious leaders of many different cults and beliefs.

The only thing that I think it means is exactly the same reason most Americans think it's fine to eat meat. It's all in where they were raised, their religion, and their forefathers beliefs. Science can prove both directions so it's all simply about where you were born and who was around you as you grew up in life.

One thing I know is that vegetarian do have more control over their anger. Perhaps it is due to the extra vege they take and also vege & fruits cools one down. They also drink more milk to make up for the protein. These are cooling food. I think there is some truth in it.
