Forget the democrat nominees. The front runners are all socialists anyways. Would you really want the government to tell you that you have to wait 6 months to start treatment on your cancer? If you don't believe me about the 6 month wait, just talk to some Canadians or the British. If I want to pay a premium for the best doctor to take action immediately, that is my right.
Don't discredit republicans because of George W. Bush. Are all democrats the same a Jimmy Carter? No. Would you like to lump all democrats into the same category as him?
I see a potential presidential ticket on the Republican side. They are both true America loving statesmen from what I can tell at this point.
.........Fred Thompson for President
.........Mike Huckabey for Vice President

They all suck. The best candidate to lead our country would be someone who actually has the best intrests of ALL of the people at heart, i.e. NOT a politician (nor a partisan clergyman).
I think that ALL of the current presidential candidates should each be given a rifle and sent over to the front lines in Iraq. Whoever makes it back......should be sent right back over there - so we don't have to listen to them yap anymore.
Carter was the last president who actually cared about everyone, but he just didn't really know what he was doint. Clinton really did have a pretty good clue at the beginning, but he was too busy chasing nookie to get a good handle on running the country. We need a candidate who is a REAL PERSON with actual COMMON SENSE to step up to the plate. And someone with an accounting or finance background instead of a law degree wouldn't hurt either.

Ironically the cynicism shown by so many people is the reason our political system sucks, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy where apathy and blanket statements like "politicians are corrupt" so on and so fourth that dissuades our involvement in the political system allowing people like Bush to take charge of this country. If the people in this nation truly paid attention to the issues and promoted genuine leaders we can create this democracy into what we want it to be. Business interests are necessary in a capitalism, it is what gives us the freedom to pursue our own hopes and dreams without a government breathing down our backs. Corporations are not evil, but they are amoral, hence it is the responsibility of society to keep such institutions in check and balance. Corporate America, is America. If we don't regulate the corporations through our democracy they will by nature of their structure try to buy out government with corrupt politicians. People independently must not lose inspiration in the system and be willing to participate and that would fix the problems. Public apathy is the greatest threat to a thriving democracy.
To answer your question, the democratic field has some intriguing choices. I think Barack Obama is a rare and unique politician with potential to inspire change in this country. People need to think more expansively than the presidency, rather to the core of politics in this country and where we as a people want this nation to go. The presidency plays a massive practical and symbolic role, but in the end the people of this nation will need to actively organize to improve this nation, that and hopefully there will be some influential wealthy folks who aren't corrupt who can step up to the plate to help the cause. I think we do see the likes of them from time to time.

Now that truly is of an opinion, and mine would be, why not Hilary? She is a strong and intelligent woman who I believe could maybe do some good for this country and MAYBE help dig us out of this bloody mess we are in in the Mideast. Her husband, our former president actually didn't do half bad, but he is only remembered for his public embarrassments, which I think is ridiculous... As a president he served our country well.. His wife his constant backbone and often a more public and admirable figure than he. So why not let her have her chance!

I hope a Democrat, like Hilary Clinton, because Bush is just pathetic and is showing the world an image of USA that I sure hope isn't real. I confess I'm a conservative voter here in Europe, but often people say that Conservatives in Europe are the Democrats in USA. Like, I have nothing against gay people, I support abortion and I'm an atheist...but I want the E.U. to increase immigration controls and support conservative taxes ideology. I really want to visit USA some holidays, but I prefer to wait until Bush leaves the White House. By the way, is it true that when your flying to the States and about to land they ask you if you're a terrorist and want to attack USA?

Hillary Clinton. Because she can win. And she advocates national health insurance which is long overdue in America.
She is also a woman and we see what men have wrought.
She's amenable and very intelligent.
She also has a great husband, the most admired loved American on Earth, who could be UN ambassador or Secretary of State and repair the colossal damage Bush and the GOP extremists have done to America's international reputation and credibility.
There are perhaps better people, But they can't win. It's essential that you can win.
