Actually, there have been more MBL players 5'8" tall or under than players 6'5" tall and over that have played in the major leagues. Talent is the key word.

Most teams draft 5' 8" posistion players routinely.
However, a 5'8" pitcher would get severely discounted because of the lack of potential due to lack of size.

Yes. If he has the talent why wouldn't you? His height of course is not ideal, but that plays a minor role in the game. Remember Mugsy Bogues(?) was a professional basketball player who was only 5 foot something and he was an all star.

God given talent, potential and work ethic are what they are looking for. I would take a 5'8" workhorse with a filthy uniform than a 6'4" prima donna pretty boy on steroids who stands and watches his homeruns float into the Bay.
I'd draft the heck out him/her!!

Last year's World Series MVP, David Eckstein of the Cardinals, is 5'6" and 170 lb.

Yeah, why not? Who cares how tall he is. Look at David Eckstein. He's like 5'7'', and he's a good player. He's so good he was mvp in the world series. Tall, short, doesn't matter as long as you are good.
