I am sick of all these gun control laws. Statistics prove that in states where gun control laws were placed crime did not drop in fact in some cities i.e. D.C. crime actually went up while crime rates went down in the rest of the nation. I despise all these stupid liberal a holes with their cumbaya peace and love crap. I proudly pack and will defend myself when some idiot hopped up on crystal meth tries to mug me.

In response to blueshoe, please make sure you know what you're doing when operating a motor vehicle. Don't laugh, it just so happens that there are over 40,000 vehicular deaths on US roadways every year. I guess the requirements for getting permission to operate cars should be made more difficult.
99.9% of gun owners know how to store [loaded and ready to fire], use [proper sight picture, breathing, steady hand, squeeze and not pull trigger], and maintain their weapon. Your advice on not letting said meth head take weapon can also be given to make sure said meth head doesn't take your car and cause any sort of damage or injury with it.
I will agree there are certain responsibilities to owning a firearm. There are also certain responsibilites to operating a motor vehicle. But, the point of this question is that if too many restrictions and laws are put into effect regarding the ownership of weapons, then only those who do not give a flying f**k about laws will still have them. I want to keep the playing field even and be able to defend myself if needed. So, let me keep and excercise my right to owning a weapon and I will make sure that if no situation ever presents itself requiring its use, it will cause as much injury as my electric can opener does. They're both just tools used to do something and both require an operator for that use to happen.

Fair enough. But I hope your meth head assailant doesn't get the drop on you and take your gun. Said perp might use it on you or other innocent upstanding citizens.

You want to exercise your constitutional right to bear arms? Please do so. Just protect your weapon and make sure it doesn't fall into the hands of someone who has already forfeited their right to own their own gun.

And try not to accidentally shoot yourself or others. Don't laugh-- it does happen.

You can hop over to Virginia from D.C. and buy a gun in 10 minutes time, if not legal than illegal, needless to say most violent crimes are committed using illegal weapons brought or stolen in states where gun possession is legal..so your point is fruitless like a BUSH..

EXACTLY!!! I couldn't agree with you more. We don't need more gun control laws...what we need are people control laws....criminals who commit violent acts with guns should go away for a very long time....should not be eligible for parole...and should not get out early for "good behavior".

I agree with you... but this is Yahoo! Answers...not Yahoo! Opinions... plus I don't think it is only liberals backing up gun laws.

Maybe instead of concentrating on guns, they should try to regulate the ammunition better?

Guns don't kill people, bullets do.
