Oh you are killing me.
This is like asking me for movies before your time.
Let me see.
World War 2
Hmmmmmmmmmm....
"In Harm's Way" with John Wayne. It is the story of Rockwell Torre with Kirk Douglas and Burgess Meredith, as well. It is awar story, a love story and a story of right and wrong and duty and honor. It just sells World War 2 the way people from that day and age wanted to see World War 2 sold.
Again you left me with only one choice and i have to pik the one that will make you smile.
Other good movies include
Saving Private Ryan
The Incredible Mr. Limpett
Bedknobs and Broom Sticks
Five Children and It
From Here to Eternity
Bridge Over The River Kwai
Stalag 17
Top Secret
Fat Man and Little Boy
Pearl Harbor
Tora Tora tora
Ensign Pulver
Mr Roberts
Operation Pettycoat
The Caine Mutiny
Sergeant York
& The Devil's Brigade
And I don't include Casablanca, Tommy, or the Sound of Music for the fact that there is no fighting in those films.

I am shocked that no one mentioned "Band of Brothers"
It was a miniseries movie that was on HBO a while back and later released on DVD.
It is about the paratroopers in Normandy. It is the true story that chronicles the lives of the paratroopers of a specific unit within the paratroopers regiment. It is very long...about 10 different 45 minute "episodes," but each link together to form one very long "movie" of sorts.
If you like movies about world war 2, you HAVE to see this one....you can't call yourself a world war 2 movie lover without seeing this one.....and after you see it, it will be your favorite. I couldn't tear myself away from it....I had to keep watching one after the other. What a wonderful, respectful movie!

Schindler's List. I love war movies, especially WWII. I would have liked Pearl Harbor more if the love story wasn't such a big part of the movie. I didn't care for Tora Tora Tora but it did have good special effects for its time
