tough question because if you swap lives then imagine what chaos would be caused in your old life by the person you swap with and you'd be left with whatever problems the other person had in the life you gained
personally i'd rather not actually swap but enter the anime as a new character because then i could create my own problems rather than deal with someone elses and there'd be no chance of someone else wrecking my old life
but i suppose i'd rather swap with keiko yukimura from yu yu hakusho because i would have the potential to go and fight and learn really cool things if i wanted but also the ability to have a stable life that most anime characters miss out on so i wouldn't be too out of my depth and keiko wouldn't wreck my old life if she was put into it
or i'd swap with Tenten from Naruto, i'm guessing that all abilities would be left with the swappers so i'm not completely defenseless, because i wouldn't have any confirmed drama to deal with since she hasn't been fleshed out as much as the other characters but she still manages to be incredibly awesome

not really swap lives, but be a new character...any of these will do:
L's girlfriend
Mello's girlfriend
one of the people who will catch Kira
be the only female character in Death Note who isn't all over Light and isn't being used by him (other than his sister and mom)
if i had to switch lives, i would wanna switch with Mello, L or Kira. all of them end up dead but they have such interesting lives...oh yeah and maybe Cagalli or Lacus from Gundam SEED.

o.k...i don't want to to really switch lives, but BE an actual charater in ranma 1/2. those people don't know fashion!!! [sorry!!] i'll be the 'other' girl.hehehe
a charater in alice academy. i want to have the power to make drawings come to life. and...well... not being 'all over' natsume and ruka.
me? i want to be a character in an anime. i wouldn't be all over the 'hot' boys and be a not so major character but still is important. i just want to be the 'other girl' who falls in love with one of the not hot boys like all the other girls in the fanclub.
sorry i didn't really go on with your question. i just really want go into the world of anime, and have cool super powers ofcourse. mostly because i want there to be a lame, 'i don't care' and 'i'm not charmed by you' girl just around the corner.
so, i acctually, i wouldn't want to switch places really. but be and individual character!!! = ]
