You can do it the same with XP. have you tried it yet? Right click on the desktop, select properties >desktop> chose a wallpaper. you can browse and put your own pics on there too.

you can also right click on any picture you have and there is an option to 'set as wallpaper' in the menu box.

Right click on dektop, click Properties. Now click the Desktop tab and select a background. If you're looking at an image you would like to save as your background, right click the image and click on "Set as background image".

As a university maintenance engineer, we lock the PC's down to save thousands of pounds a year sorting out the devastation students do to the computers. If you want a nice walpaper, do it on your home machine. We had one student last year that go so frustrated with the PC someone had messed about with that he tried to break the keyboard over his knee and ended up with a dislocated kneecap. Also got fined for damaging the keyboard. If you waqnt to be able to go into a classroom and type up your essay or whatever on a Uni/school PC then please don't mess them about. Sorry for being a grumpy old git.

Ok first go to Start, then Control Panel, then Display and finally choose the tab at the top that says Desktop. There you can see the different images you have to change your background.

Hope that helps
