If we thought we had a problem with our clutch at 10,000 miles, and the dealer says don't worry about it, and it breaks at 14,000, is this there fault? Is there anything they could of done? What does it mean to adjust the clutch, when should that be done?

Adjusting clutches is becoming a thing of the past with the new hydraulic clutches in the newer vehicles.

You don't state what is happening ? or what type of problem you have? or what kind of vehicle you have?

If a clutch wears out fast it will be because it has been slipping (Driver riding the clutch) or pulling heavier loads than normal

My brother in law burned out his sons new clutch in 35 miles. It is a long story but basically didn't doesn't know how clutches work so he burned them out. So in 4,000 miles you can do lot of damage.

It is very hard to prove that the dealer should have done something - espcially when it come to clutches.

what kind of car ???? at 10,000 miles your warranty is virtually gone with any aftermarket or dealer parts. if a dealer did the job with dealer parts then you should have a small leg to stand on, but, still if you thought you had a problem a 10,000 miles and let it go to 14,000 ............sorry

if your car wont go due to the clutch problem you probably sheard the cogs in your gearbox/transfer case. if you take that to a mechanic that is a huge job, definetly over $1000 so try and get the dealer to atleats give you some money for that.
