Hi. I would have to say PSYCHO.It was the original shock horror movie(1960) and has stood the test of time .It has been imitated copied and even remade in color with the same dialog which was stupid. You cant improve on a classic. Hitchcock had intended to label the movie a black comedy but somehow it did not fit that category. The film relies on suspense and the element of surprise rather than blood and guts like we have in today's movies.
The musical score by Bernard Herrman is brilliant as it complements the visuals .The use of strings only gives a stark penetrating sound particularly during the famous "shower scene"
Anthony Perkins is brilliant as the troubled Norman Bates and Janet Lea is a fine leading lady whose demise is early in the movie. All the other stars compliment the movie to make it one of the best movies of all time.

I like most of them, but I'll go with North By Northwest. I think Cary Grant was Hitchcock's favorite and most effective actor. He's great as the man wrongly accused but determined to find out what's going on, much like Robert Donat in The 39 Steps. Great film, good villains and the Mount Rushmore scene is priceless.

Rear Window - my all time favorite.

1.James Stewart & Grace Kelly - 2 of the most beautiful actors to grace the screen.
2. Introducing Grace Kelly as her shadow falls on Stewart’s face & that slow-mo kiss.
3. The set - especially constructed for the movie. Looks so real.
4. Interesting characters - Miss lonely heart, the songwriter, Miss Torso & of course Stewart’s nurse & not forgetting the detective Wendell Corey..
5. Lovely tune played out at the piano by the songwriter...
6. That definitive moment when Thorwald discovered who was spying on him - Boy, that really send a chill down my spine as his eyes met ours.

"The Birds" because it has so much tension in it. Wave after wave of crazy birds come to bother the stars & others. Before each wave Hitchcock builds the tension. Great Movie!

The most famous is the one I'd pick, and that'd be PSYCHO - the brilliant camera techniques employed, the by now famous jarring musical score, the oft referred/imitated/spoofed shower scene and finally the character Norman Bates -- that finally nails it down!

I like alot of them. I guess the Birds, because I remember watching when I was younger, and it made me think of the movie if I would see alot of birds sitting on a telephone line.
