The answer is a.
3(x) + 2(y) = 5
3(5) + 2(-5) = 5
15 + (-10) = 5
15 - 10 = 5
5 = 5

Even if you wasnt given options to chooce from, you could solve the equation similar to how you would solve any equation.

if 3x + 2y = 5
then
2y = 5 - 3x
which means :
y = 2.5 - 1.5 x

so any answer can easily be checked by placing the value into x and there will be just the one value of y that will make the equation true.
try a) by putting 5 into x to give :
y = 2.5 - (1.5 x 5)
y = 2.5 - 7.5
y = -5
so if x is 5 y is -5 therefore a) is a solution,
you can try doing the same for b c and d but you will find that none of them are solutions to the equation
y = 2.5 - 1.5 x
so only a) is the correct answer there. Note that you should check all the answers as the equation can have many solutions, for example x = 3, y = -2 would be another solution
which would work.

3x +2y=5
by substitute a answer,
3x+2y
=3(5)+2(-5)
=15-10
=5#

by substitute b answer,
3x+2y
=3(-5)+2(5)
=-15+10
=-5----not equal to 5

by substitute c answer,
3x+2y
=3(-5)+2(6)
=-15+12
=-3----not equal to 5

by substitute d answer,
3x+2y
=3(6)+2(-5)
=18-10
=8----not equal to 5

so the answer a.

yeah, it is a: 5, -5.

Just substitute the ordered pairs one by one into the equation 3x + 2y=5.

first number is x, second is y. order pair: (x, y)

(5, -5) is the only pair that works.
x= 5
y= -5
3x+2y=5
3(5)+2(-5)=5
