Set your alarm clock a minimum of an hour or so early and characteristic the snooze function flow off each 5 minutes. The alarm will wake you and you could then slowly awaken over the hour or so in the previous you could desire to get away from mattress.

Yeah, I hate that too. Especially since I don't set mine and my 4-month-old wakes me up at 4 a.m. and then my husband's un-needed alarm wakes me up again at 5:15.
It's a nice feeling you can drift back off to sleep though.

I always wake up before my alarm goes off even when Im off. Unfortunately my phone starts ringing at 2:30 am so now my body is adjusted to getting up then. :(

Write yourself a note the night before to turn the alarm clock off before you go to sleep. You remembered it was your day off, so you should remember to do this.

Even worse is the fact that my cat Toonces apparently doesn't care that it's my day off and still wakes me up at 5:00 am.

YES! That drives me nuts. The freaking mockingbirds outside my window usually beat my alarm to the punch though. *Grrrrr* ;)
